¿Intersecciones = Lugares?

La Avenida Diagonal, al atravesar el Ensanche, da lugar a numerosos espacios de forma triangular, en unos casos residuales, y en otros con el atributo de lugar. Son espacios de pequeñas dimensiones, y su ubicación y tratamiento hace que se conviertan en puntos muy característicos en la trama urbana.

Son intersecciones en las que se producen todo tipo de intercambios, desde sociales y culturales hasta económicos, y son zonas muy activas de la ciudad en cualquier momento del día. Las esquinas, son el punto de intercambio social y cultural por excelencia, donde se producen cantidad de situaciones y encuentros diferentes. La doble orientación de los movimientos, y la confluencia de direcciones, multiplican esta sensación de singularidad.

Según Manuel de Solà-Morales, “Las esquinas de la ciudad nos enseñan, en formas y situaciones diversas, esta condición de lugar de encuentro, de superposición y de conflicto”. “La esquina es una metáfora de la ciudad total, en tanto que constituye una síntesis a partir de la diversidad, porque, en contra de lo que el urbanismo erróneo suele pensar, no es la idea de orden la que hace la ciudad, sino la idea de diferencia. Diferencia más coincidencia definen la esquina”

When the Diagonal Avenue, crosses the Ensanche, it gives rise to several triangular spaces, sometimes residual ones, and other times with the attribute of “place”. They are spaces with small dimensions, and their location and treatment make them characteristic points in the urban plot.
